James 1:6 KJV
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering….
What do you expect when you pray? When we pray with earnest expectation, we are exercising our faith. The earnest prayer of righteous people produces powerful results, and the most earnest prayers come from us recognizing our need for God.
There can be a natural tendency to shrink back when praying for the seemingly impossible, but we must remember that nothing is impossible with God. If we know the promises that God has given us, and understand His character and the principles by which He works, we can pray with confidence and trust Him for the answer. What has caused you to waiver in your expectation with God? James reminds us that faith and wavering are actually contradictory – he says “nothing wavering”. Know that God never wavers in His love for you. You can trust Him completely.

Day 10
ReplyDeleteThis day was a good day. I fixed some things that they all liked. We are making it through even though my taste buds sure would like some meat. But there are advantages to not eating all those sweets, drinking lots of water, and having no meat - you lose weight. My boys don't need to lose weight and they are - Robby especially. I think its from all the water mainly, because they still eat good. I'm not sure how much pastor has lost, but I've lost 5 pounds since we've started. I'm loving that.
I really didn't think about the weight loss when we started this. I read that it could happen, but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking - "Been there, done that. It won't happen to me." Well, my dear friends, consistency is the key. I'm glad because I have been needed some weight off because of my height. God is blessing in more ways that one when we are faithful to be obedient to Him.
I didn't mean to use so many black beans today, but I did. They are quick and easy and today I needed that. The meals turned out really good though.
God Bless You!!
Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Banana Bread
Lunch: Black Beans and Corn Salsa with Leftover Wraps
Supper: Enchilada Casserole
Banana Bread
1 1/2 cups oats
1 cup applesauce
2 bananas
1/4-1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans
Put the oats in the food processor and blend until a powder. Add the applesauce, bananas, peanut butter to the oats and blend well. Then stir in the pecans. Place in a baking dish (the size dish so that it looks the size of brownies). Bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. When a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, they are done.
Enchillada Casserole
2 onions - chopped
1 1/2 cup chopped green peppers
1 tomato, diced
3/4 cup salsa (can use picante if you can find one with no sugar)
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp cumin
2 cans black beans (I used 1 can and 1 can corn)
1 can tomato paste
1 cup water
Saute the onions, peppers, tomatoes, and garlic until translucent. Add the salsa and cumin. Cook to combine flavors. Then add the black beans.
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Make the corn tortillas below or heat the corn tortillas before adding to the casserole in a skillet. Place the black bean mixture in a baking dish that has been lightly coated with oil. Place 6-8 corn tortillas on top of the mixture. Combine the tomato paste and water and put on top of the tortillas. Bake for 30 minutes.
Corn Tortillas & Chips
1 cup masa harina (slightly coarse flour made from ground, dried corn)
1 1/2 cups warm water
Combine masa and water in a medium bowl. Stir mixture until dough froms a ball and stays together. Add more water if necessary - a tablespoon or two at a time. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes. Then divide into 6 equal portions and form each portion into a ball. Flatten and roll each ball into a 6 inch round with a rolling pin to desired thickness. (You will need to use a little whole wheat flour to keep it from sticking.) Place rounds on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 35-40 minutes or until slightly browned and crispy. Break into pieces for tortilla chips. For tortillas, divide the dough into about 10 following instructions and heat over a skillet for about 30 seconds on each side
