Amos 3:3
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
In the heart of every believer is the desire to walk closely with God. We know that He too desires a close relationship with each one of us. A key to having a strong level of spiritual intimacy with God is living in agreement with His will for our lives. In Genesis 5:22, we read of Enoch and see that his life modeled a long journey, walking consistently with God. The Bible says, “Enoch walked with God 300 years…” Enoch lived a powerful life. He was a man that walked in agreement with God’s will and lived a life pleasing to God. (Hebrews 11:5b)
It is one thing to know God’s will for our lives; it’s another to live in agreement with His will. In order to enjoy the best life that God has for us, we must first understand that God does not change, but we sometimes must. Let’s earnestly seek to know and agree with God’s will for our lives. The level of our agreement with God will determine the degree of closeness in our walk with Him.
Fasting can be a truly spiritual uplifting experience, but only if it’s done for the right reasons…then it produces the right results. It’s a “When” and “Then” proposition. When you fast and pray for the right reason(s) your light will break forth like the dawn and healing will quickly appear (Is. 58:8). Fasting makes our hearts more attentive to God. It’s amazing how much time you have on your hands if you’re not eating, preparing, cleaning up after supper, watching TV, or engaged in other endeavors. Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. The Holy Spirit can transform your life through fasting and prayer.
Pray today that we can walk in agreement with God and enjoy the life that He desires us to have in Christ.
Day 4 Family Fast
ReplyDeleteWell, I will not be cooking quite as much. Wednesdays are really hectic for me. I didn't get to fix the lima beans as directed last night and because we LOVE lima beans, I will have for supper tonight.
I fixed the trail mix bags with dried apples, pears, bananas, & pineapple, raisins, popcorn, oatmeal raisin balls and almonds. Very good - I didn't like the apples or pears with the peelings. I will remove next time. Another snack to consider is popcorn; you remember, the way mom or grandma use to make it. Kernals (1/4 cup) popped in a pot over the stove. Use 1 TBSP Olive Oil over medium high heat. When the pops start to slow down, take off the eye. They are plain so you could add 1/4 tsp salt and shake before putting in a bowl. (Most of the salt sticks in the bottom, but still gives a good flavor.)
My plans today are:
Breakfast - Baked apples with cinnamon and wheat tortillas
Lunch - Baked potato with salad
Supper - Red Potatoes baked in the oven with rosemary, Lima Beans, Sauteed Cabbage, & Mixed Fruit
God Bless You in your Fasting!
Sauteed Cabbage
2 tsp Olive Oil
1/4 cup thinnly sliced yellow onion
4 cups shredded cabbage
Salt & Pepper to taste (if using)
Coat a large, fairly deep skillet with olive oil. Add onion and saute' over high heat until translucent (about 2 minutes). Add cabbage, salt & pepper. Cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes until edges of cabbage are richly browned.
