DAY 12 - PRAYING BOLDLY

I Kings 18:36 KJV

And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant…”

The sacrifice referenced above was a declaration that Elijah was a servant of the Most High God. Elijah belonged to God, and he represented God to the people. However, Elijah’s boldness was not a result of who he was; it was the result of knowing God! As children of God under the new covenant of Jesus, we don’t have to be timid or fearful when coming to God in prayer. We can approach God boldly. The Amplified Bible puts it like this: Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well timed help, coming just when we need it]. Hebrews 4:16 AMP

It’s hard to imagine taking a fearless, confident, bold attitude when coming before God in prayer. Yet this is exactly what we are admonished to do! God has already settled the issue of our access to Him, but we can be assured, our access is not because of our own righteousness. It’s because of what Jesus did on the cross. We can come to the throne in such outrageous boldness because Jesus was outrageously righteous! When we pray, we come to God in the authority of Jesus’ name, and we can be confident that we will find grace, mercy and perfectly-timed help.

Do you approach God with timidity of confidence? Seek God boldly today knowing you are fully forgiven and Jesus has made you righteous. When you approach God in prayer, seek a fresh revelation of who He is in your life.

  1. Day 11 and 12
It's been a busy week for us so I apologize for not blogging daily. This week Pastor has had to work a district basketball tournament, so it feels like we just see each other in passing. Homeschool has taken a lot of our time too this week. Only 1/2 a year left so we are busy.

Yesterday, I fixed the banana nut bread again (It was a big hit.) and we ate leftovers for lunch. Last night, I fixed roasted red potatoes and squash with lima beans.

Today, we ate fruit for breakfast, Fried Vegetable Rice for lunch, and tonight we ate turnip greens, whole wheat tortillas, and spinach noodles.

I love to cook, but this has definitely been a challenge to come up with new dishes and not eat the same thing all the time. I pray you are having a wonderful time in the Lord as you continue your fast. Wow! We're almost there. Can you believe it!

    Happy Fasting!

    Fried Vegetable Rice

    1 TBSP olive oil
    1/2 onion, diced
    3 celery stalks, diced
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped thin
1/2 cup carrots (I used frozen.)
    1 cup Sweet Peas
1 cup broccoli (I used frozen.)
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    2 cups Brown Rice
    3 cups water

Saute the onion, celery, and parsley. Add the rice and fry in the pan with the mixture. Add the water and let boil for about 20 minutes. Add the soy sauce and stir. Then add the sweet peas, carrots, and broccoli to the rice mixture and let steam until the broccoli is tender.

    Spinach Noodles
1 Box Wheat Maccaroni Noodles, cooked
    1 TBSP olive oil
    3 Green Onions, chopped
    2 Celery Stalks, chopped
1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped thin
1 cup Grape Tomatoes, sliced in half
    2 cups Spinach Leaves
    1 cup Sunflower Seeds

Cook the noodles according to box directions. Saute the green onions, celery, and fresh parsley. Add the grape tomotoes and spinach. Take off heat and let steam. Stir together and add the sunflower seeds. Stir in noodles and serve. Very easy and tasty.
